Childcare Enrollment

Rules & Conduct

We desire and equip all children to express themselves as well as respect others. Let’s face it, children will be children. As adults we all have different perspectives, beliefs, personalities, and tolerances. Children are no different, and developing their traits in their toddler phase is key to their development. We are intentional about teaching our children how to respect others space, how to share, and how to deal with conflict. We are all aware that children will not always get along, but GGC has zero tolerance for children harming others physically. To resolve this matter we will implement our STEP Strategy, which is a 4-phase policy:

#1 Sit & Think

This first phase we will instruct your child to sit down and think about their actions. We will explain to your child that hitting someone to express themselves is wrong and they are sitting down for a moment to collect themselves for 5 minutes. We also encourage the child to apologize for their behavior to the other child that was involved. We will do this multiple times if the child’s actions continue.

#2 Talk to Parent

This second phase is when we will set down with the child parents and share to them what has been occurring. We will also challenge the parent to follow up at home with what we are attempt to instill in the child so that we can agree not to cause a double standard. It is imperative that GGC and our parents work together and support each other to avoid the child’s behavior from escalating.

#3 Extended Suspension

This third phase is when GGC will temporarily suspend your child for 1 week. During this time we will still hold your child’s spot and you will not be charged the full rate during the suspension phase. We understand that this time can be very unconvincing, but we hope that when your child returns, they will understand that their actions have consequences. We want the child to learn from their mistakes and that their violent behavior will not be tolerated at GGC.

#4 Permanently Expelled

The fourth phase is our most difficult phase. This is when we must break the news to our parents that we believe that GGC is not the best place for your child’s development due to not being able to adjust to our structure. We know that finding another childcare provider is vital, so we will grant a 30-day time frame for the parent to seek other options. During this time we will still monitor and hope to make a positive impact in your child’s development.
